How to Install the Prerequisites of Exchange Server 2003

 

Following are the important Pre requisites to check before installing Exchange Server 2003

• ASP.Net
• IIS
• SMTP
• NNTP
• WWW

Step by Step procedure to Install the Prerequisites of Exchange Server 2003
Place the Windows XP Professional CD-Rom into your CD-Rom Drive. Select Install optional Windows components

The windows components page will open, you can reach this windows by Start menu, click Control Panel. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.

In the Components list box, click Application Server.

And click details to view the components under the Application Server

Click Internet Information Services Manager and click details. If you select the ASP.Net important component like IIS, will be selected along with ASP.Net

On the IIS components window select the NNTP, SMTP and WWW services, which are the important prerequisites to install Exchange server 2003

Click OK twice to finish the component selection window

click Next to start the installation of important components

Click finish to end the IIS installation

After installing the IIS and the perquisites, review the services that are installed and check the services are running and set to automatic startup.
